The New World Symphony, a post-graduate training orchestra founded 27 years ago in Miami by conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, gave a thoroughly professional performance Wednesday at the Kennedy Center. Joined by superstar violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, the NWS flashed impressive chops in music of Schubert, Alban Berg, Norbert Moret, Debussy and (for an encore) Bizet.
